About JBO Woodcraft:

There is something about taking raw lumber and turning it into a functional work of art, unlocking the hidden potential of it so to speak. It all started in high school woodshop class, where we had just gotten a brand new Jet tabletop lathe. Being a senior at the time, I had a lot of free periods in which I would spend most of messing around making things in the shop. I would take firewood and turn bowls and got the hang of the machine. Eventually, high school ended and I moved onto college.

Fast forward to college graduation and obtaining a B.S. of Botany, which lead me into a career as an Arborist. In layman’s terms, an Arborist is essentially a tree doctor where through scientific and cultural practices, we maintain overall tree health as well as mitigating risk involved with these woody giants. Sometimes trees have to come down, but not all is lost when they can live on as something else.

After saving up a some money, I bought my first lathe, a Teknatool Nova 1624ii. It was a great recommendation from my old Woodshop teacher, Mr. Schilstra. From there I continued to hone my woodturning skills and eventually branched out to making all sorts of different items like charcuturie boards and kitchen gadgets, but I am always trying something new.

So I invite YOU to come and take a look of what I have to offer, maybe your dining room table is missing a stunning fruit bowl centerpiece or that old plastic cutting board is due for an upgrade. Whatever it may be, JBO Woodcraft strives to make top quality handmade items while also using sustainable lumber use practices.

Kind Regards,
